Philippe Gillès received this property as a gift from his first wife Josèphe-Marie Roose de Baisy, heiress of the van Susteren family, Lords of ‘s Gravenwezel.
He handed the castle down to his nephew Baron Philippe Gillès de Pélichy (1832-1920), husband of Caroline de Brouchoven de Bergeyck.
It was then passed on to his son Henri, who bequeathed it to his son nephew José Gillès de Pélichy.
As he died without any descendants, his heirs sold the castle to the famous antique dealer Axel Vervoordt.
