This castle used to be inhabited by the Counts of Flanders and the Dukes of Burgundy.
King Philippe II proceeded on 6 March 1558 to bestow it upon the Knight Juan Lopez-Gallo, from whom the Counts of Gourcy are descended.
Baron Charles Gillès de Pélichy bought the property in 1920. The castle is presently home to a religious congregation.
