Saint Antoine Castle

The castle is said to date back to 1186. Owned by the first Lords of Molembaix, the ownership passed into the hands of the Lannoy family in 1359 and then to the Croÿ family in the late 16th century.

The next owners were the Scorrion family in the late 18th century.
It was bought in 1833 by Mr Alfred de la Croix de Maubray, who was succeeded by one of his daughters, Pauline who married Baron Joseph Gillès de Pélichy. The castle was then inhabited by their daughter Marie, who did not marry, and she was followed by her brother, Baron Alfred Gillès de Pélichy.

The property was next bequeathed to Gericke d’Herwynen, and is presently the home of Myriam and Philippe de Ghellinck d’Elseghem Vaernewijck.
